Sneakerhead Spotlight: Jaden Aka @Jadendaly

Question 1: What’s in your current sneaker rotation?

Jaden: Honestly, just about everything in my collection. I only have about 50-55 pairs so it’s still easy for me to cycle through all of them regularly and not overlook anything too much, but admittedly there are a few that I’ll wear more often than others. Lately, it’s been Jordan 12s and Air Max 90s, with an 11 or two mixed in.

Question 2: What's the last pair you UNDS'd?

Jaden: Brave blue Jordan 13s, Memorial Day weekend. I used to be really good about doing that right away after I got a pair, but I’ve waited on some of my newer ones recently and still have a couple more sitting that I’ll bring out later in the summer. It’s not a bad problem to have, at least I don’t think so!

Question 3: What is your fave sneaker you currently own?

Jaden: It’s always going to be the playoff 13s. I’ve been a big 13 fan since they came out (they’re still my favorite Jordan all these years later), and when I was 11 years old, my mother went down to her last dollar to get me the original pair when we were passing a store in the neighborhood and noticed me looking at them. When the retros were released in 2011, I made sure I got them just to bring that story full circle.

Question 4: What is your must-have grail?

Jaden: That I don’t already have? Space Jam 11s, no question. There were two other pairs (flint 13s and He Got Game 13s) that took me years to track down, but I finally did, so the Space Jams are next man up. Still way too rich for my blood on the resale market.

Question 5: What got you started in the sneaker game?

Jaden: Really just not being able to get most of the classics in my size when they first came out. I had that problem for a long time, so I’m grateful for most of the retro releases because now it affords me the chance to have what I couldn’t when I was younger. It was a side of me I also tapped into more during the pandemic, and I’m not lying when I tell you my collection has tripled, maybe even quadrupled, over the last 2-3 years. I’m very picky about what I get, but if I like it enough, I make sure I get it.

Question 6: What's something that most people don't know about you?

Jaden: This also ties into the next question a little bit…I’m a broadcaster and sportswriter. I do college football play-by-play and have my own website focusing on college basketball in the New York/New Jersey area. It’s still a side hustle because the industry is so secure that very few people leave right away, and the New York market isn’t easy to tap into right away. I’ve been doing it for 15 years now.

Question 7 (optional): What do you do for a living?

Jaden: Well, I got into the journalist background a little bit in the last question, so that’s one thing I do. I’m also a payroll administrator in my primary line of work. Gotta pay the bills somehow, right?

Question 8: Where can people follow you on social media? YT, Snapchat, IG etc

Jaden: Check me out on Twitter at @jadendaly and @DalyDoseOfHoops (that one is specific to my college basketball website), on Instagram at @jaden_daly, and my written work at http://dalydoseofhoops.blogspot.com
