Sneakerhead Spotlight: Johan AKA @MightyFeats13

Question 1: What’s in your current sneaker rotation?

Johan: Currently… White on white Air Force 1s and Jordan 1 Bred Mids sit by the front door, as I’m absolutely wearing those daily to walk my English Bulldog, Astro. Can’t throw a ball and play fetch without those cause without a doubt he’s steppin’ all over me. He knows no boundaries, so at the moment those are my beaters Lol. Otherwise, the past week or two I’ve been rockin’ the Undefeated Imperial Blue 5 ON IT Air Force 1s, the Patta Noise Aqua Air Max 1s, A Ma Maniere Raised By Women Jordan 3, Varsity Maize Iowa Dunks, and I just wore the Air Jordan 1 Midnight Navy Co.Jp’s to brunch.

Question 2: What's the last pair you UNDS'd?

Johan: The Patta Noise Aqua AM1s. Wore em to date night with my wife the weekend before last. We haven’t had many of those since our babygirl was born, she’s 19 months now. I love this pair though and am amazed at the mudguard redesign by Patta on the classic Tinker designed air max silhouette. I wanted the Monarch colorway originally, but struck out. Ended up getting the W from Patta on this pair, and was ultimately happier with these. To me, this is the best out of the 4 now because the color actually reminds me of an ocean wave and ideally represents the concept by the Amsterdam boutique. The next day I wore em to a Costco run and a guy pulls up on us, rolls the window down and yells, “Yo are those the Patta’s?!” 😂  They’re fire though. And, I think my next UNDS is going to be the Salehe Bembury Yurts, been wanting to break those out.

Question 3: What is your fave sneaker you currently own?

Johan: That’s a tough question to just give 1. I don’t know how sneaker collectors with hundreds of pairs can even answer this. I currently own close to 60 in my collection. But if I had to respond with just 1, my favorite sneaker of ALL TIME is easily the Air Jordan 3 Black Cement. In my first collection, which I sold back in 2009, this was the last pair that I kept before moving to NYC for film school. It was the 2001 retro. I kept em and wore them to the ground until one day the entire sole fell off the left shoe. I trashed em 🤦‍♂️ but if I had known back then about sole swapping, I would’ve kept them. Fast forward to a couple months ago, I purchased a used pair of the 2018 retro locally, NEARLY brand new - for $350. I had to have em again! Favorite sneaker of all time 🔥

Question 4: What is your must-have grail?

Johan: Well, based on question 3, I guess I acquired my grail recently. But now that I have those and looking beyond them… Another pair with nostalgia from my first collection, the Diamond Tiffany SB dunk lows. Man, I had 3 of em at one point! This was when I was in high school. Way before the dunk craze and hype that we all know of in 2022. I used to camp out at my then local skate shop, Island Water Sports, in Deerfield Beach Florida. My girl would come with me and I would get 2 pairs easy, flip 1 every time. This was when there was no resell, but I would ultimately get my pair for free. Stussys, Futura Dunkles, Hemps, so many others! But yeah, I would love to secure a pair of em now in 2022, without the astronomical price tag. If not those, runner ups would be a pair that I never owned, the Chicago 1s (which we now know we get another shot at the end of the year to get!) or the UNION LA Jordan 1 Storm Blues 🤤 *chefs kiss*

Question 5: What got you started in the sneaker game?

Johan: Man, that’s tough to answer at the core without writing a page worth of story. But I think like most everyone else who loves sneakers, they’re a form of artistic expression. I’ve always had a good sense of style and was one of the freshest dressed guys in my high school. I was one of the very few in my class who was up on dunks back in that day and would love to pair the wild-colored SBs with a fly fit and just love the rarity of them at the time. I would sell and buy and trade with those other homies and try to find exclusives on eBay that just weren’t seen every day. That was a pure era in sneaker culture where we just loved sneakers for sneakers. Not the monetary value on StockX or the hype attached to a certain release. Also, my love for Jordans came from watching Chicago Bulls games with my dad back in the 90s. He was an amazing basketball player and loved MJ. That was the main catalyst for entering the sneaker game. My dad was the one who would take my brother and I to the mall to cop the new retro releases at The Athlete’s Foot or Footlocker. That or we ordered them through the Eastbay catalogue before buying on the internet was a thing. When I sold my first collection of about 70 pairs of pure heat back in 09, I stepped out the game like 23 and detached from that world to focus on my passion of learning film and photography. It wasn’t up until just the end of 2020 that I came back like 45 into buying sneakers again. Damn, the game really done changed.

Question 6: What's something that most people don't know about you?

Johan: Hmmmm…. This is tough to answer as well. Most people as in real life? Or on the internet? I’ll assume for sneaker twitter. Let’s just say, I’m a mystic. I’m a moor. I’m awakened and tuned into the many realities of this world we live in. I see beyond the veil of 3D. There’s a paradigm shift happening as we speak. If we ever link up and meet in real life, we can converse further but that’s all for now, HAHA.

Question 7 (optional): What do you do for a living?

Johan: If in terms of career and professional work, I’m a photographer, director, and content creator. Like I said, I moved to New York to study filmmaking. I started my own sole proprietor-ship photography business back in 2012. I shot everything back then to pay bills and rent, I was a starving artist. Weddings, engagements, birthdays, headshots, family portraits, events, you name it. I also shot music videos for independent artists, promo videos for local businesses, concerts and festivals with brands like Mass Appeal. I’ve worked on many projects since then. You can find my website at http://www.johanospina.com. I wrote and co-produced / co-directed a commercial spot in partnership with Drew Brees and the NFL. COVID hit and I stopped working for a while. My last two big corporate clients for commercial product photography were L’Oreal x Kiehl’s and PepsiCo x Quaker. I recently moved out of NY and relocated back to South Florida with my Queen and baby princess. So for the past 9 months or so while my wife has worked from home, I’ve had the unique opportunity to be a stay at home dad, spending time with my daughter. Now I’m about to start working again, I’ll be shooting photography and video content for a popular fashion and sneaker boutique down in Miami. I’ll disclose more on socials when the time comes. Additionally, you can expect to see a couple other ventures coming from me this year in the lanes of launching a luxury streetwear brand, based on my twitter handle, Mighty Feats©™ — and coming much sooner, a YouTube channel based on sneaker restorations and customs. It’s become a new passion of mine ever since the pandemic hit. I’m excited about that. Some of my twitter fam might’ve seen a sneak peek already 👀 Other than that, I’m an entrepreneur at heart, so I’ve got other ideas and plans for the future. G-d willing one day I’ll have a film or tv series up on Netflix or on your favorite streaming platform 🙌

Question 8: Where can people follow you on social media? YT, Snapchat, IG etc

Johan: I’m on twitter @mightyfeats13 in the sneaker community and soon will have a new IG for kicks and fashion with the same handle. My current IG is @johanospinaphotography, although I’m not very active on there. I actually would like to be more active on twitter reposting more of the sneaker and fit-pics from those who have embraced me in the online sneaker community, but lately the days fly by so quickly here. I sometimes don’t even open the app, I just RT notifications from the blogs or go in just to make my own post and close it back up. Ya’ll know who you are though. I appreciate all ya’ll! Including you guys! Thanks so much for the opportunity of even having me on here, featured next to so many awesome sneaker heads and sneaker collectors. Plenty whom I’ve had the pleasure to connect with through twitter. Soon when I launch my new YouTube channel though, I’ll be posting the links and videos on my @mightyfeats13 page so look out for that there. And like I mentioned earlier, my personal website for photography and video can be found at http://johanospina.com

Peace, love, blessings, and high vibrations to everyone who took the time to tune into this
