Sneakerhead Spotlight: Steve aka @Steverush2323

Question 1: What’s in your current sneaker rotation?

Steve: My current rotation consists of Burgundy NB 550s, Sesame Sacai VaporWaffles, Bodega 15th Anniversary NB 990 V3s,  UNC 4s, and ALWAYS a handful of AM90 and AM1 color ways.

Question 2: What's the last pair you UNDS'd?

Steve: I just UNDS’d the Blue and Purple Undefeated “5 on it” Dunks. Such a dope pair. I immediately fell in love when I opened that box. Who’s got the black jawns for me in a 11.5/12?? Haha

Question 3: What is your fave sneaker you currently own?

Steve: I get asked this all the time, and the truth is it’s always changing. My collection is constantly moving and additionally every time I pull a pair out that I haven’t seen in a while,  I look at it with a different perspective and fall back in love.  But if I have to answer I would say it’s currently the New Balance 57/40s. I have multiple color ways and recently completed the pack by grabbing the Concepts 57/40 Collab.  The Atmos, Bricks and Wood, and Concepts Collabs are dope as hell and I’m stoked to have them all.

Question 4: What is your must-have grail?

Steve: I have 2. First, the Kobe Proto VI Grinch. I came no where near the 2010 release even though I tried like crazy. I was so excited on the re-release because I thought for sure it was my time. Haha. Nope. Still working… And my second is the SB Dunk High Pro Cherry Blossom. Another one that has eluded me since release day. I swear these two haunt me in my sleep.

Question 5: What got you started in the sneaker game?

Steve: I feel this is a similar story to most. Growing up back in Philly my parents didn’t have a ton of money to spend on expensive sneakers for me. I was in 3rd or 4th grade when the Jordan 4 first came out. I wanted it so bad. No way my parents were going to get them for me but my Grandmother spoiled the hell out of me. She pissed my parents off, and bought me that iconic bred pair. After that, I was off. I was OBSESSED with that air bubble. First Jordan’s then I went nuts on Maxes. I did whatever I could to raise money to spend on kicks. Sold baseball cards, cut lawns, shoveled driveways, sold and traded shoes, it was an immediate obsession. Here I am 30+ years later still at it.

Question 6: What's something that most people don't know about you?

Steve: Some know that I am Active Duty Military, but hardly anyone knows that because of the military I have had my feet on 5 of the 7 continents on this globe. I did 2 full tours in Japan and lived there for many years. I spent every weekend in Atmos and the various boutiques. It was truly heaven for anyone into sneakers. OG and dedicated Atmos shopper for over 14 years, you’d think they would let me into the #atmoscollectorsclub. Hahah. For real though, what up @Atmos_usa ??

Question 7 (optional): What do you do for a living?

Steve: Nuclear Limited Duty Officer in the US Navy. I have been active for just about 18 years. Currently I oversee new construction of nuclear powered submarines.

Question 8: Where can people follow you on social media? YT, Snapchat, IG etc

Steve: @SteveRush2323 on Twitter and @SteveArooney on IG

Shout out to all those on Sneaker Twitter that support and look out for each other. This game is cut throat and we gotta look out for one another. Even outside of the game, life can be a MFer and we can’t do it alone.  Many of you have helped me along the way in more ways than one. It’s always been about community to me and I appreciate all of you more than I could ever explain. 👊🏻❤️
