Sneakerhead spotlight: Mike aka @LegasusO (Copy)

Question 1: What’s in your current sneaker rotation?

Mike:  I’ve never worked within a sneaker rotation.  I usually look over the stacks of drop-fronts and go with what I feel.  On certain occasions I’ll find inspiration through posts within our community or I’ll pick a theme and run with that for a period of time.

Question 2: What's the last pair you UNDS'd?

Mike:  The last pair I cracked were the AMM Jordan 3s.  I wasn’t particularly floored by this shoe.  My excitement was probably curbed by my anticipation of the Bodega NB 990v3s!

Question 3: What is your fave sneaker you currently own?

Mike:  My favorite sneaker is the OW presto.  The shoe was an instant standout among the original 10 collection. The combination of comfort, style, and the attention they garner make these an easy pick any day of the week.  It's one of the few shoes I would love to have in multiple pairs.

Question 4: What is your must-have grail?

Mike:  I have three grails that always come to mind. They are the Jordan 4 Military Blue ( Nike Air on the back), Jordan 9 powder blue (without the 23 on the heel), and the Doernbecher 4.  The first two are pure nostalgia and represent some of my most memorable sneaker moments growing up.  The Doernbecher runs a little deeper.  I spent four years as a medical technician working on a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.  During that time I spent a lot of time caring for terminally ill children.  I can’t describe how inspiring and heartbreaking this experience was.  Every time I see the shoe it brings back really strong feelings.  I also love the inclusion of the Superman S in the design.  I’ve been a fan since running around naked as a child with a towel around my neck to getting a poorly drawn S tattooed on my arm as a teenager.  If all that wasn’t enough,  they were realized as Jordan 4 which has been my all-time favorite silhouette.

Question 5: What got you started in the sneaker game?

Mike:  I think I got interested in sports shoes in general in the mid to late 80s while living in Germany.  At this time it was more about the laces than the shoes. The shoe served more as a blank canvas than a finished work of art.   I really started paying attention to shoes when I came back to the states and met a kid wearing the Jordan 4 Military Blues.  It was literally love at first sight.  I also learned about the game of basketball that day (my second love) and about some dude named Michael Jordan.

Question 6: What's something that most people don't know about you?
Mike:  I work in IT and I think most people are shocked that I worked in the medical field and then spent seven years as an executive chef.  On a more interesting note, I catered an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and even managed to get a split second of air time!

Question 7 (optional): What do you do for a living?

Mike:  I’m a data architect for a local health system.  It provides me the opportunity to indirectly support oncology patients by partnering with our doctors to improve treatment and the overall patient experience.

Question 8: Where can people follow you on social media? YT, Snapchat, IG etc

Mike:  I spend most my time on Twitter, but you can catch me here and there on IG.  My handle is Legasus77.  Why Legasus? I earned the nickname hoopin’. Legendary and Pegasus just didn’t describe what I brought to the court so they combined them. True story!
